Challenge

Encouraging newer and younger audiences to attend live baseball games required an upgrade from the venue’s existing distributed audio to an arrayed system that could produce physical impact that reached every seat in the house. Furthermore, to accommodate a growing calendar of entertainment, Chase Field ownership desired a PA system that had concert-level output and intelligibility, while producing coverage consistent for every spectator’s experience.

Solution

The CO12, arrayed in left-right clusters adjacent to the centerfield scoreboard, provided consistent coverage and ample output, with frequencies down to 35 Hz reaching the vast majority of seating sections, including those hundreds of feet away from the source. Secondary CO12 arrays, located vertically beneath the mains, reduced interference on the low end and prevented energy from reflecting off the stadium’s large concourse doors, while providing seamless coverage for the remaining seats. The reference monitors in the stadium control room were upgraded to CF10.

Result

Live performances and sporting events at the stadium now feature Cohesion, with the industry’s highest SPL and smooth transitioning between clusters results in seamless coverage—within 1 to 2 dB from section to section—no matter where a spectator sits for a ballgame or other entertainment. The new monitors in the control room, voiced similarly to the arrayed CO12, have improved audio mixing for gameday baseball production as well as live performances.
