Bad Bunny “No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí” Residency

Global superstar Bad Bunny recently completed an ambitious concert residency, the longest and most successful in Puerto Rico’s history, in support of his sixth studio album Debí Tirar Más Fotos. Each of the thirty dates over seven weekends—plus a specially announced thirty-first show live-streamed on Amazon Prime Video and Twitch—utilized the selected Cohesion PA for the historic residency.

Challenge

Bad Bunny’s vision included rich, sensorial details in his production elements, including a large island mountain and a B stage with a classic jibaro homestead reproduction; crucially, the PA needed to preserve the sightlines for the 18,500 nightly attendees while still providing full-arena coverage, crystal-clear intelligibility, and exceptional output.

Solution

Roly Garbalosa, Production Manager, worked closely alongside Clair Global Event Support Engineer Randy Lane to create an audio system design that would not obstruct the audience’s view of either stage, and the solution was to fly the PA attached to the catwalks more than eighty feet up. A total of 128 Cohesion CO12, backed by eighteen flown CP218 II+ subwoofers, created uniform SPL and tonality for the audience despite its unconventional deployment. Further CP218 stacked on the ground assisted in providing low end to the sold-out crowds, each of whom could see the magic of “Benito” on stage at all times.

Result

The monumental residency attracted hundreds of thousands, including celebrities like Lebron James, Benicio del Toro, and Ricky Martin. The rich, full-coverage audio helped to support the unique artistic vision of Bad Bunny to celebrate his cherished home, Puerto Rico. “In my opinion, no other system could have been installed like this, much less sound like this with that SPL, dispersion, and coverage along each seat,” said said Fernando “Wichie” Martinez, founder of Wichie Sound, now Clair Global Puerto Rico, which oversaw the PA’s deployment at the residency.

"Everything worked perfectly. Our crucial on-site optimization created uniformity in the SPL and tonality for the audience. Once again, Cohesion was clear, coherent, and powerful."
